 What Does an NDT Multi Technician Do?

An NDT Multi Technician is responsible for inspecting materials, equipment, welds, and components without causing damage to them. The purpose of these inspections is to identify possible defects and ensure that equipment and structures meet the required safety and quality standards.

The selected candidates will be expected to use different NDT techniques and accurately assess inspection results.

 Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for duties such as:

• Carrying out inspections using different NDT methods.
• Working with techniques such as UT, RT, MT, PT, and ET.
• Identifying defects, flaws, or irregularities in materials and welded components.
• Reviewing inspection findings according to relevant standards and acceptance criteria.
• Preparing accurate inspection reports and maintaining proper documentation.
• Checking, calibrating, and maintaining NDT equipment.
• Inspecting metals, welds, composites, and other industrial materials.
• Following applicable safety procedures, codes, specifications, and quality standards.
• Working in challenging industrial environments, including offshore locations and shutdown projects.

 Education Requirements

Candidates should have relevant technical qualifications, such as:

• Diploma in Welding Technology, or
• Diploma/Associate qualification in a relevant engineering or technical field, or
• Bachelor of Technology/Engineering in Metallurgy or a related discipline.

 Required Experience and Certifications

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• 7 to 13 years of relevant NDT experience.
• Mandatory certification such as ASNT Level II, PCN, or an equivalent qualification.
• Certification and practical knowledge in multiple NDT methods, including:
  • UT
  • RT
  • MT
  • PT
  • ET
• Strong ability to understand and interpret technical codes, standards, and specifications.
• Experience working in industries such as Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or Aerospace.
• Previous experience in turnaround and shutdown projects.
• At least 5 shutdown project experiences.
• Offshore experience is mandatory.
