What Will You Do?

The selected candidate will take a leadership role in managing design activities across multiple infrastructure projects. The position involves coordinating technical teams, managing resources and ensuring that design work is delivered efficiently and to the required standards.

Department & Resource Management

You will be responsible for planning and allocating engineers, Design Project Managers and other technical resources according to project requirements. The role also involves improving departmental workflows and dealing with resource conflicts between different projects.

Team Leadership

This is a senior management position, so strong leadership skills are essential. The Head of Design Department will guide and mentor Design Project Managers and senior technical staff while monitoring workloads, productivity and project deadlines.

The successful candidate will also help build a strong and technically capable design team.

Technical Quality & QA/QC

Maintaining high-quality engineering standards will be an important part of the job. You will help establish design procedures, checking systems and QA/QC processes to ensure consistency across projects.

Technical deliverables will need to meet relevant engineering standards, specifications and regulatory requirements.

Project & Technical Support

For major or technically challenging infrastructure projects, the successful candidate may act as a Technical Director or Technical Manager.

The role will involve providing senior technical guidance, helping project teams solve difficult engineering problems and making sure technical risks are properly identified and managed.

Client & Business Development Responsibilities

The position also has a client-facing and commercial side. The candidate may be involved in:

• Preparing technical proposals and bids
• Supporting expressions of interest (EOIs)

Who Can Apply?

The company is looking for an experienced engineering leader with 15+ years of progressive design and engineering management experience.

Candidates should ideally have experience working within an engineering design consultancy or professional-services environment and should be comfortable managing multidisciplinary teams and several projects at the same time.

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field is required. A Master’s degree in Civil or Infrastructure Engineering and Chartered Engineer status would be an advantage.
