About the Role

As a CBT Welding Inspector, you will work as an independent third-party inspection representative. Your main responsibility will be to make sure welding and fabrication work meets the required project specifications, international standards, and client quality requirements.

The role involves working closely with contractors, QA/QC teams, client representatives, and TPI agencies at an onshore fabrication yard.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and witness NDT activities including RT, UT, MT and PT.
• Review NDT reports and verify compliance with acceptance criteria.
• Review welding procedures such as WPS/PQR.
• Check inspection reports and material traceability records.
• Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports.
• Identify non-conformances (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
• Verify material identification and traceability.
• Ensure fabrication activities follow project specifications and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with contractor QA/QC teams, clients and project personnel.
• Provide inspection feedback and technical clarification when required.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have:

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• CSWIP 3.1, AWS-CWI or equivalent certification.
• CBT certification according to client/project requirements.
• Good knowledge of international welding codes and offshore fabrication standards.

Experience Required

The ideal candidate should have 5–10 years of welding inspection experience, including:

• Third-party inspection (TPI) assignments.
• Offshore structures such as jackets, topsides and modules.
• Offshore structure fabrication carried out in onshore yards.
• Experience in GCC projects is preferred, especially Oman.

Technical Skills

Candidates should be familiar with welding processes such as:

• SMAW
• GTAW
• FCAW
• SAW

You should also be able to read fabrication drawings, GA drawings and weld maps, with a strong understanding of fit-up tolerances and QA/QC documentation.
